My adventure began early in Kathmandu at 1,350 meters, bracing myself for the bouncy 122-kilometer drive to the trailhead at Syabrubesi. Stepping out at 1,530 meters, I tightened my boot laces and immediately hit the trail toward Rimche. Over the next five to six hours, I covered about 10.9 kilometers, pushing my limits through a steady 870-meter elevation gain until I finally reached my first camp at 2,400 meters.
The second day was a relentless test of endurance. I trekked 21 kilometers straight from Rimche to Kyanjin Gompa, passing right through the standard stops like Langtang Village. Combining stages meant I took on an enormous 1,460-meter altitude jump in a single push, bypassing the standard acclimatization stops to reach the thin air of 3,860 meters by nightfall.
I woke before the sun on day three to tackle the morning climb to the summit of Kyanjin Ri. Gaining 913 meters over a 7-kilometer round-trip, I stood breathless but victorious at 4,773 meters, taking in the panoramic Himalayan views before beginning a brutal descent. From the Gompa, I immediately pushed through another 21 kilometers all the way down to Lama Hotel at 2,410 meters—a massive 2,363-meter plunge in elevation that stretched my total daily distance to a punishing 28 kilometers.
The final morning brought a relatively quick 11-kilometer hike down to Syabrubesi, dropping the last 880 meters of elevation. Back at 1,530 meters, I collapsed into a seat for the 122-kilometer drive back to Kathmandu, exhausted but incredibly proud of completing such a rapid, unforgiving pace through the valley.
